Hello, I had to reinstall Windows XP Home edition, and since my computer won't play any type of audio. I have a big yellow question mark next to Multimedia Audio Controller, and next to SM Bus Controller, both say 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)' I tried to reinstall them through device manager, it then asked me if I wanted to search for updates online, so I clicked yes. Then it said it could not find the required software. I have a Gateway PC 2002, IE 6, OS Windows XP Home edition Service Pack 1, and a Intel Celeron CPU 1.80GHz. How can I fix this?? 'The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28)'. Unable to install drivers for Universal Serial Bus Controller. That runs realtek hd audio and. Ok I Know my problem, i know how to fix it i just need the download for the driver, Or a detour around this problem, i have no sound ive tried everything but buying a new sound card anyone know where to get the Multimedia Audio Controller? I have really strange thing on my computer. Under device manager, under other devices I have exclamation mark above multimedia controller(code 28) When I go to the properties I tried many times to update drivers,no luck. Drivers can not be found for this device. My computer is SONY VAIO VGC-LT15E, I have video, I have audio. Everything seems to be working-wecam, ports, wireless card. It happened when I installed Windows 7, I used upgrade version from Vista, but I did custom install with formating hard drive. I checked with sony website drivers and I think I have everything installed. Can you give me some direction what to look for and where? Thank you Joanna.
